Who is Papa Nihil?

Papa Nihil is portrayed as the sort of 'original.' Though he's made comments about how 'his father's father, his father's father, his father's father, his father's father," all had the Emeritus name. So I'm not really sure what that's all about. And I probably missed some fathers in that quote too. He is the father of Papa Emeritus I, II, and III. I think.
We get a few hints of his "glory days" in the music videos for Dance Macabre and Kiss the Go-Goat, as well as some of the web series videos.

Unfortunately Papa Nihil died in Mexico while giving an awesome saxophone performance for the song Miasma, but that's ok.
They still wheel his corpse out on stage and revive him so they can keep performing the song. His ghost also appears in the web series, and somehow he's still able to shit himself.
Papa Nihil is never allowed the sweet embrace of death.
