What is Ghost?

Ghost is a Swedish rock band! They have a very theatrical approach to their music, and have a whole story/lore built around their albums. The 'lead singer' is played by one person, but who the 'lead' character is changes. Curently the lead singer is Papa Emeritus IV, previously known as Cardinal Copia. Previous lead singers include Papa Emeritus I, II, and III. In the lore, Papa Nihil was also a lead singer, back in the 70s, however in reality the band was formed in 2006.

One of the important things for the band is anonymity, or at the very least portraying everyone on stage as characters and characters alone. The lead singer and frontman, Tobias Forge, was previously also anonymous until he was forced to come out for legal reasons. The other band members, known as nameless ghouls, are typically a rotating cast that remains mostly anonymous.

Ghost is themed around, in my own words, "Catholism if they worshiped the devil. Also the church is a band." However, it is all just a performance. And they have fun with it too! Very camp. They have a series of videos on youtube that give some more context to the band, and they're really . And there's a movie that recently came out! It's mostly a concert movie, but it expands on the lore a little bit too.

I've only been a fan of ghost for about 3 or 4 years now, so I'm not the most well versed or hard core fan. But I really like them a lot! I'm slowly working my way through the lore and having fun
